The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) is the largest school district in the U.S., serving 1.1 million students in over 1,800 schools. NYCDOE is committed to ensuring staff and students are well protected by upgrading security systems throughout the school district with newer technology and services provided by AISG. In an ongoing and evolving relationship with the NYCDOE since 20XX, AISG continues to provide a safe environment for teaching and learning.

Project Summary

NYDOE retains AISG initially to maintain and repair existing alarm and access control systems throughout New York City schools. The scope of work expands with NYDOE requesting AISG install new alarm systems for intrusion detection in schools and access control for elevator control.

System Design

For the new security portion, AISG utilizes Honeywell intrusion alarm devices to design a large commercial grade alarm system that covers up to 250 alarm points per school. AISG alarms all doors and windows to create a locked down alarmed facility. The alarm system is also being used to secure the schools after hours. Access control is being used to control the use of school elevators with access control cards. A Kantech system is installed for access control of several elevator bays in the same school building with different access levels for the ability to control each elevator separately and only be used with approved access control cards.
